Spring!
Spring is here! Days are longer now, the earth is warming, fruit trees are blooming, and bulbs and fungi are emerging from the dark, damp soil. It is the season of awakening. Beautifully intricate birdsong, the buzzing of bees, and a raucous choir of frogs are background music here in the northwest woods.
Springtime is hope— a reminder that darkness will pass.
There is something about the first delicate flowers after winter that seem to remind us to be gentle with each other, and with ourselves.
I hope you are able to take a few moments each day to take in the changes and savor the beauty, no matter how small.
There is always a little ray of dandelion sunshine bursting forth from a crack in the concrete somewhere...
In the Spring, energy ramps up— both inwardly and outwardly. Suddenly it feels like there is so much to do and as we get moving out the the sluggishness of winter, our creative juices get flowing.
It is a time when it is easy to overextend ourselves. The temptations to say yes and to take on too much are great. Allowing ourselves to move slowly into the activities of the season allows us to maintain balance and avoid depletion.
Spring Tonic Tea is a great way to support your immune system and maintain resilience as activities increase. At Simplicity Herbal, all of our teas are carefully blended in a way that they are both calming and yet energizing—just the right combination of herbs to support you in the season of Spring!
The truth is, it’s impossible to maintain balance in our lives all of the time. Balance is not a goal to achieve; it is activity we engage in. There are inevitably days when we will have too much on our plates and feel overwhelmed. Our to-do lists never seem to get shorter and the risk of burnout is ever-present. But, there are things we can do every day to maximize our resilience and minizmize the drain on our energy.
Incorporating adaptogenic and tonic herbs into our diet on a regular basis is one easy strategy to support our reserves. Taking moments each day to slow down and practice mindfulness is another. This is one of the reasons I love herbal teas and honeys. Taking a little time each day to make a cup of tea, sit down, take a breath and enjoy the nourishing flavors of the season does wonders as a mental reset. It is a little ritual that we can all incorporate into our busy lives.
Tulsi (or Holy Basil) provides the foundation of our Spring Tea blend. Tulsi is an adaptogenic herb, used widely for thousands of years in the tradition of Ayurveda to support wellness. It is one of my all-time favorite herbs. Nettle, red clover, lemon balm, lemongrass, and mint combine beautifully with Tulsi, bringing a deeply nutritive, bright, and calming energy to this blend.
Bee Well Spring Honey is deliciously soothing and energizing. Raw honey is combined with powdered lemon, ginger, peppermint and Eleuthero (Siberian Ginseng). Add a spoonful of honey to hot water (or herbal tea) and enjoy. So easy!
Welcome in Spring with a delicious daily ritual of seasonal support and balance.
